enUnder the “Capacity Building on the Natural Resource and Mining in Mongolia” project implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry (MMHI) and the Economic Research Institute (ERI), the research team covered numerous mining-related topics in order to get a better understanding of Mongolia’s mining sector and its future development. In the studies, the research team tackled the following issues in the mining sector and offered unified policy recommendations:

- Taxation and Financial Reporting
- Contracting in Mining Sector
- Marketing and Trading in the Mining Sector

The report thus covers the most crucial bottlenecks for the development of mining in the country. In the following sections, each issue is highlighted in detail, and policy recommendations are summarized.
